[2004-10-16] Nothing exceeds like excess ::

Tonight I made some progress on drum programming. The answer to the question of whether to use the full Alan White loops (some Gabrielized, sliced and diced by DrumCore), the individual samples, or an electronic kit in iDrum appears to be “Yes.” The current sketch uses just individual A.W. samples in the beginning, adds a mangled loop, then switches to a straight one, with kick drum, accents and fills using the samples. Then iDrum enters to make it Even Bigger, the straight A.W. loop shifts to another mangled one, and then it breaks down to just iDrum. One really cool thing about DrumCore is that the samples are the same kits used in the sampled loops, so the extra snare accents, for example, blend in well. Though some of its full sampled loops have versions without a kick drum, the ones I’m using don’t. A highpass filter does the trick well enough. ...
