Mom sent the Rat DVD for my birthday; it arrived today and I watched it tonight. I’ll have to do some scurrying to remember how it ended up on my Amazon wishlist, but I was laughing hysterically for about 10 minutes in the middle.
I noticed that the music director was Bob Geldof and had a sneaking suspicion (which turned out to be correct) that he was the lead singer of The Boomtown Rats, which is funny not only because because of the “rat” connection but because the film and the band are both Irish. The first hysteria-provoking exchange featured “the booook and the fillllllum.” (book and film)
Oh, the thermostat is on its way, and the banana bread was pretty good but maybe a little dry. The circuits in the living room are wired correctly but the powered speakers hum with nothing else connected, and lifting their grounds helps a little but not enough (argh). I’ll go look at some more rugs tomorrow (am inclined to get something utterly cheap and simple for my office and splurge a little for the living room).
