Doing my part to sustain consumer spending ::

Motivated by:

[a] receiving my first full month’s winter gas and electric bill
[b] wanting to get a couple of area rugs
[c] wanting to transform two mushy bananas into a better banana bread than my last attempt
[d] having spent Sunday wiring two A/V systems for a friend, wanting to debug the hum in my big powered speakers in the living room

I did some shopping today:

• Programmable thermostat (a)
• Grater (banana bread recipe calls for grated orange peel) (c)
• 2 pairs of jeans (semi-impulse)
• Circuit tester (d)
• Power strip (d-related)
• 4 ground lifts (d)
• 2 loaf pans (c)
• Wire cooling rack (c)
• 6 forks (impulse)
• Nutmeg, almond extract, and walnuts (c), and a bunch more groceries

As for failed mission (b), I looked at area rugs at Sears, Target and Pier One, but having seen more than a couple of really cool rugs at Rugs Direct, it wasn’t surprising to find nothing exciting in the stores.
