I thought I’d written about this kind of experience before...
After the Thomas Dolby show Saturday (more on the show itself in another entry), I was standing right by the door and a woman stopped and told me, “God bless you.” I was startled and momentarily withdrew, then just said, “thank you.” By the time the thought “what for?” began to travel towards my mouth, she was gone. Had I helped her once with something? When Thomas had mentioned from the stage that I had created some of the infrastructure his live rig is built on, and was in the audience, had he pointed me out? Then, too, I’d retreated inward; I don’t know what happened in those few seconds. Or had I just smiled at her? I’ll probably never know.
A few minutes later, a guy who’d been looking at me as if he wanted to say something also stopped and spoke to me as he left—"thank you Mr. Wyatt.” This time, I was quicker on my feet and asked him his name. He worked for Korg R & D in Milpitas, with one of my former Opcode colleagues, and is on some of the same mailing lists as I.

Maybe she just thought you needed blessing.

Well, you may have retreated mistakenly. If this was an attack, well, the world would be a lot more kind, less dying. ;-)
Next time, bless them back, and ask if you like.... They mean you well I believe, and your lack of faith is disappointing....
Peace,
Egz

Keith: hahahahaha! didn’t think of that.
Egz: yes, I wished I hadn’t been so surprised. The second time was better.
