Progress ::

One of the final edits turned out to be trickier than expected, so the hard disk containing the final masters left Sweden a week later than expected, and hasn’t turned up here yet. But there has been plenty to do on other fronts.

Christoffer and I have been converging on a running order. I’m starting to feel settled about the first three and last three tracks, and a suggestion Christoffer made tonight to swap two of the three in the middle may be the last tweak. I’ve written a synopsis of a story that corresponds to the running order, one scene per track. I didn’t notice this until I was playing with cover art (I’ve done about 8 mockups) and liner notes, but there’s something interesting about the ordering of the tracks on which certain players appear, as if various instruments correspond to characters in the story. (Drum kit and programmed percussion = Satan, string quartet = God ... I’m kidding!!!)

To fit the story as well as appease my muse, I’ve resurrected an excerpt from the demo of one track that turned into something very different in the studio. There’s a piano solo I don’t want to lose; Helena did a really nice vocal that didn’t get used; and my friend V did some guitar tracks for just this one and which weren’t used in the remake. Christoffer liked the rough of the new bit; it needs some elaboration and so I’m busy with that.

I currently have only two candidates for a title, each of which fits the story in a different way. I’ve been polling my friends and have noticed: two women (married or engaged) and one married man prefer one title. Several single guys prefer the other. Hmn.

Well, actually the third idea for a title is to appropriate one of the song titles, and that’s the backup plan, but it feels lazy.
