Progress ::
The last few weeks have been a blur. It’s starting to feel like I’m really going to Sweden to record an album in 20 days.
There are 9 songs in progress. Drum tracks from one collaborator are integrated. Major surgery on two songs are done. Submixes and charts for V and E to work with in trying guitar parts are in their hands. String charts for one song and a piano chart for another are done.
There’s still quite a lot on the to-do list:
- make submixes, charts and notes for guitarists (2 songs)
- work on arrangements on the two long and orchestrated pieces (including string and oboe charts for one)
- integrate drum parts when they arrive (3 songs); probably major rearrangement work on one and a more modest amount on another, based on what the drum programmer does
- evaluate digital piano tracks, figure out what might be kept vs. notated and practiced for recording on a real piano (6 songs)
- integrate guitar parts when they arrive
At this rate there’ll probably be work up until it’s time to pack up the gear and go to the airport. The upside is that 3 or 4 songs would be in good enough shape if I arrived at the studio tomorrow.
