From Drunkenblog via 0xDECAFBAD:
Unfortunately, every time I come out of one of these cycles the first thing I have to do is figure out who I owe an apology.
And Andy Inhatko:
Yes, the book is done, after a particularly gnarly final few weeks of round-the-clock effort. And for the past week, I’ve felt like the title character at the end of “THX-1138.” Now that I have my long-dreamed-of and hard-won freedom...I’m just sort of standing around and blinking. I hardly know what to do with this thing called “Free Will.”
All I’ve produced musically in the last 3 months is one reworked track, 3 weeks ago. Then Justin successfully nudged me into making a stripped-down Logic project containing submixes, for Jorge to use in constructing a drum track (I’ve run out of patience for drum programming). A week or two ago I made noises to V about replacing my sampled guitar parts with the real thing; tonight she asked for MP3s and so I spent an hour notating the parts. When I was almost done with that, Jorge called about what is hopefully his final stumbling block in getting started on the track. Funny timing, it seemed I was both getting a little positive feedback for having done some work, and being reminded that there was much more to do.
Meanwhile, over the weekend I was listening and playing along with the next track to be reworked, but didn’t actually open the project. When I finally opened it, I realized that I’d locked myself out of one of the plugins it uses. It may be easier to wait for a new version of the plugin than to reconfigure my way around it, so I’ll set that track aside for now and find another to work on.
And somewhere in there I bought my plane ticket to Europe to go record in June. I leave 11 weeks from today. Time is flying!

Boy, do I hear you. I didn’t quite finish CREDO (new short screen opera) before my twins were born. The remaining work would previously have taken a few weeks. It took three months and a dangerous amount of exhaustion and sleep deprivation.
It got finished and sent off to its first festival submission 2 weeks ago. In that time, all I’ve accomplished musically is the partial replacement of Absynth string pads with East West strings in a piece from the soundtrack to my full-length screen musical.
Which is more work than it sounds like, but still way less than I would have liked to accomplish in that period.
Of course, funding would help...
