Logic's Beat Mapping ::

I discovered the new Beat Mapping feature in Logic 7 tonight:

I’ve been hoping for something like this for about 16 years. You simply drag the beat lines in the rulers to the notes which belong at those beat positions, and it inserts tempo changes.

  1. Thanks for the info, looks very cool. This is something I have wanted to do as well. Too bad Logic is so expensive.

    I had investigated Motu’s FreeStyle software and that was pretty interesting, but expensive too. I was hoping for something around $50 and run on a PC.

  2. How about Mackie Tracktion? $50, cross-platform. I’m fairly certain it has some kind of beat mapping, though the Logic interface here is very elegant.

  3. www.ableton.com Live 5 has a similar feature called warping, which will feature in Live 6 of course.  Very useful for timing vocals properly :)
