One of the dangers of working with improvised tracks is that a recording glitch can make a good performance unusable. I finished a drum track for the jazzy piece I was working on, added another background track, and mixed it. I’d trained myself to ignore the clicks in the recording (from screwing around with the loop transport during the original improv) but after I zoomed out, they were a big distraction.
In the shower I contemplated an algorithm to resynthesize the damaged portion using the surrounding samples. Then I remembered Amadeus could do this—it took some experimentation to find the best settings, but it worked well. Nice 15-day free demo period and worth $30.
