In a fit of nostalgia I’ve been digging through my cassettes from the last century, digitizing the better ones before they self-destruct. I was in a bar band called Outrage in 1980-81; when I joined, we were playing country rock in tiny beer-soaked bars in small Central New York towns like Elmira, Corning, Dansville, Penn Yan, Bath, and Moravia. Six months later we’d phased out the country (probably because I hated it and sucked playing it) in favor of some progressive and New Wave flavors, playing some larger clubs, and trying some originals. Right before our singer left, we recorded two songs, including the unabashedly political Coming To Your Country [3:51, 3.6MB MP4]. It rings more true today than it did when we recorded it in summer 1981. (I was such a goof! yes, the Twilight Zone...)
