A few more things I learned last night:
The Star of India on Old Brompton Road in South Kensington (? just reconstructing the location from staring at a map) was perhaps the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to.
According to H, the best synthesizer ever made was the Sequential T-8. It sends release velocity and polyphonic key pressure. Note to self: find a keyboard that sends release velocity and program synths to respond to it appropriately (H’s example: the way one pulls off more quickly on the last note of a long run).
The M-Audio Radium doesn’t send release velocity, and I’m not quite convinced about the transmit velocity sensitivities after 45 minutes with it. But it was really nice to play a little to wind down before bed.
My PowerBook has 2 USB ports. The Radium wants one. Logic’s dongle wants one. MOTU’s Mach Five dongle wants one. Sorry, Mach Five, too many dongles and not enough ports. I’ll look for a tiny and rugged USB hub.
The British mandate much more straightforward warnings on tobacco products.
And this morning: Maybe it’s too much to expect two dry, sunny days in a row in London in November.
