Kurt Vonnegut gave a lecture at the Mark Twain House in Hartford last month. Inspiring. I enjoyed some of the readers’ comments on the page; some reminded me that when I was a teenager I read and loved several of Vonnegut’s books. What a shame that some high school English teachers don’t know who he is. I wonder if Elmira was as actively promoting itself as Clemens’ birthplace when Vonnegut was attending nearby Cornell as it is now. (Thanks, DT!)
At work today I saw a new (as in before-unseen) bike parked in front of my building. It had a wooden carrier of some sort above the rear wheel, on which there was a “bumper” sticker: “I [heart] my social anxiety disorder.” That’s great!
