Lao-Tse: Life and Work of the Forerunner in China ::

I finished Lao-Tse: Life and Work of the Forerunner in China recently. I’m reminded of when I was in 6th grade and read just about every biography in the elementary school library; there’s something unique about the way biographies are written for children; difficult and tormenting events aren’t quite glossed over, but they’re perhaps muted, always framed in the context of this extraordinary person’s strength of vision and purpose in life. My dad once described the Thai attitude: “yes, this can be a hard and sometimes dangerous world, but we’re tough, we’ll make the best of it.” So this book reminded me of that in a way; it reads like a sparkling fairy-tale and yet never skimps on the substance and heart of the character.
