The Bourne Identity ::

Saw The Bourne Identity on the flight to NY Monday. There’s no shortage of adrenaline-inducing chase scenes, especially the car chase through Paris, which make the film entertaining on the whole. But Matt Damon has to do his best with a script that is just too unbelievable. If I recall the original Ludlum novel correctly, the character got a clue about his job fairly early on; though the mystery remained of why he was being hunted. Here we have an amnesiac character who has discovered a gun, lots of cash and passports in his safe deposit box, demonstrated uncanny skill in hand-to-hand combat and evading small armies of policemen, without it even occurring to him that he might be a government agent.
