I’d read this on Tuesday before reading Kierkegaard’s quote on boredom, but neglected to put it here, to remind me of how much I like seeing them next to each other:
“In him who dwells contemplating the misery of all concerned with grasping, craving ceases. And with the ceasing of grasping cease also becoming, birth, decay-and-death, grief, sorrow, woe, lamentation, and despair. Such is the ceasing of this whole mass of Ill.”
– Buddha ("Some Sayings of the Buddha”, trans. F.L. Woodward)
