Saving a seat ::

I saw Meeting Messiaen at the SFMOMA tonight. I’d gotten there early and didn’t know how full it was going to end up being, so I left two empty seats between myself and a couple in the third or fourth row. I figured either the seats would end up empty or a couple of latecomers would appreciate being able to get such good seats. The hall got pretty full. A few minutes later a friend of the people behind me arrived late and they saved the seat next to me for her. When she took her seat, it took me a few moments to realize that I had met her last month at an event in Santa Cruz.


The Holographic Universe ::

When I got home from Meeting Messiaen I got an email with the subject “synchronicity.” A friend had been reading some of my entries about coincidences (going back to 9 September). This friend and I had begun corresponding about a week before then. She just bought The Elegant Universe and just saw Amelie, both of which I wrote about on 11 September. ...
