Flora & Airto @ Yoshi's ::

I saw Flora Purim and Airto at Yoshi’s last night. The SJ Merc article before the show had a lot about their new album, which features many lesser-known Jobim tunes. I was disappointed that they only played one or two songs that were probably from that album, and that Flora didn’t sound like she was in full voice. The pleasant surprise, though, was Airto and the band. It was Airto’s show, playing everything from grooves to complex polyrhythms with impeccable time, and playing the MC role with wit.
