gig in corning ::

Peter Chwazik (bass), Matt Morano (drums) and I (keyboards) performed in Corning on April 27. There were slides of paintings by regional artists, and these set the tone and were the inspiration for a series of improvisations—both musical and dance. It ranged from spacious, quiet and beautiful to throbbing cacophony.

It seems somehow really appropriate that David Torn ("what means solid, traveller?”) and Robby Aceto ("Code”) would have new records out at the same time. I did a lot of listening to the two of them play around Ithaca when I was a teenager. Torn combines some elements of grooving and funkiness with his trademark combination of spacey, Eastern and blues elements...
